When I’m in the tiny computer space of our living room and my daughter’s friends come over to visit her, I’m often banished with my laptop to the master bedroom so that she and her friends can utilize the big 55" TV and spread out drinks and junk food throughout the living room. While I’m on Medium with my laptop in the bedroom, I would put on Spotify and Karaoke with the Rascals, Rolling Stones, Eagles, etc. Then my daughter would barge in shout ” Daddyyyyyyyyy! turn that noise down!!!” and then slam the door for emphasis. Sometimes being a parent can be so restrictive and humiliating. But in my rebellion, I still shake my head and wave my arms as I chair-danced while I lip sync to my music. I’ll take my musical fix any way I can get it!
