This story reminds me of the 1958 Stage play of “The World Of Suzie Wong” where leading female lead plays the role of a Chinese prostitute in a love affair with a young white Englishmen. This trend of depicting Asian women as prostitutes or loose morals resulted into many books and films that feeds into the male fantasy that Asian women are all docile, subservient, and extremely skilled in the bedroom arts. Asian women still endure this racist misogynistic stereotype to this day. This stereotypical female type was also evident in “Miss Saigon”. Thank you for your story, it was a good read, Nga Vuong-Sandoval!
