This story is a wonderful tribute to a loving father, a decent human being, a man of courage who answered his country’s call to duty while sacrificing much and gaining honor. I can relate to your father’s need for privacy and keeping secrets about his military service. My father’s war was in the Korean war era and mine was in Vietnam. Those who have served often refuse to speak of their military service for good personal reasons. We all share in this trait for better or worse, unfortunately.
