“Taking A Knee” has nothing to do with disrespecting our Military or our Country, or our Anthem, or our Flag. Yes, our Constitution gives us, in the 1st Amendment, “Freedom Of Speech” and “Freedom Of Expression”. Taking a knee was about protesting unequal social justice by law enforcement’s treatment of people of color, specifically Blacks being shot or killed by law enforcement as the 1st option during encounters with citizens. President Trump made this into a highly divisive political issue. Many of the Military in all the branches of service are also divided on this issue. I am a Navy Veteran who served on board the U.S.S. Fox, and the U.S.S. Vogelgesang Destroyers. I served to protect everyone’s rights under the U.S. Constitution. I don’t feel that “Taking A Knee” protests dishonors me, but you know what makes me mad like a pebble in my shoe? Anybody, but especially those who haven’t served, claiming protesting dishonors my service. As a former active duty Sailor, that’s not what I fought for and agreed to die for — for someone’s rights to be dictated. That’s not Freedom and that’s not “Patriotism” Good article and I agree with you David!
