Jack The Busker
I was taking a stroll through my neighborhood mini-mall when I heard him. The sound of a melodious guitar and a wondrous male singer compelled me to move toward the source of this beautiful rendition of “Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl)” by-Looking Glass.
A crowd was starting to gather so I pushed my way toward the front of the crowd to stand in front of him. Just for fun, I decided to provide the backup vocals for him by singing “You’re A Fine Girl” part. Soon the crowd joined in and provided very robust backup vocals. The guitar player’s grin grew wider as we all finished the song and the guitar player announced that he was taking a breather. As the crowd was leaving, they were throwing money and something else into his donation box. Being curious, I asked the guitar player if I could speak with him.
I walked up to him and complimented him on an outstanding performance, and he thanked me for providing backup vocals and for firing up the crowd for him. He said his name was Jack as we shook hands. I then asked him why, with all that talent, why wasn’t in a band? Jack replied that he is in a band and has been for many years but the band wasn’t going anywhere and that he enjoys busking for a little beer and laundry money.
