I’ve made the same mistake with ingredients more than once. That’s why your story made me chuckle. You could have saved that chili by turning it into a curried beef dish by adding or not adding (don’t add if your dish already has these spices in it):
- 2 Tbsp ground coriander
- 2 Tbsp ground cumin
- 1 1/2 Tbsp ground turmeric
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper or ground chilies
The above spices when mixed together produce about 1/3 cup of homemade curry powder. If you leave out the cinnamon (since its already in your chili) and add it to your chili it would still be a good curried beef even if there are diced tomatoes in it. Thanks for the fun read, Michelle!
