I share the truth of what you wrote about in this piece. I really understand the elation of achievement, the desire to share the victory of that achievement, and the need to write about it. We fellow writers, will all enthusiastically and honestly celebrate with you, cheer you on and admire you for it. But some writers become stuck in that moment of achievement and continuously crow about it in their next 3 or 4 or 5 stories that they publish. That becomes wearisome to read and attracts fewer readers, and perhaps followers as time goes on. The stories that follow your achievements should be ones that made you popular and allowed you to accumulate followers in the first place. The continuous “I am da bomb!’ type of stories will eventually drive people away. Curation is wonderful in growing your audience by making possible for more exposure by featuring your story, but you have to keep in mind that it often entails the luck of the draw too. Millions of stories are published daily and your story and you have had the fortunate luck to have been read by the small number of curators, which means that you shouldn’t consider yourself a master of the writing arts. I am not denigrating any writer in this response, it is my opinion only. I thank you, Sherry, for writing this article. There are many who have the same feelings that you and I share. I stand with you.
