I lived in New York City until I was 30 years old before moving west to California. You’re right that the regular people of the city are the most friendly people that you can meet. The rude nasty ones are usually easy to spot by how they treat people around them. You just have to observe them for a minute or two. Another factor in spotting them is they look mean anyway.
