Andy, I am so sorry for the loss of your little brother. I am also grieving for the loss of my 93 year old Father who passed away on May 29 the day after America’s National Memorial day. It’s been 10 years since I last saw him. My little brother and his family lives with our parents to care for them in our family home. I deeply regret the fact that my family and I have not visited as often as we should have. Just as your article stated modern society and daily life took over. There was also economic issues of struggling to survive in daily life that had an impact on my ability for such visitations. The main obstacle was that my parents live 3,000 miles away from where my family and I live as we are on opposite coasts of the United States. Although I remained in contact by phone and regular mail, I still wished that I could have physically visited more. I pulled the resources that I have and I will be going to the funeral so that that I, as the oldest child will attend my Father’s Funeral this coming weekend. We have to find balance in some way to maintain family relationships and with friends despite the difficult paths and obstacle life throws in our way. You have my sympathies for your loss and thank you for a touching article. Thanks Andy!
